O H & S Standard AS 4801
COMPLIANCE WITH AS/ NZS 4801: 2001
Certain manufacturers are obliged in Law to comply with AS 4801 - the Australian Standard in regard to Occupational Health and Safety management systems. This may be set down in their Contract with their Supplier.
While their O H & S compliance may have achieved a substantially high standard, they simply do not know if they have achieved compliance with the Australian Standard on O H & S.
Compliance with the Standard may be a critically important requirement. And they realise that what they are facing is an O H & S Audit in order to determine whether they comply or fall short in certain aspects. Alternatively, they may wish to make a self –determination and declaration of conformance with the Standard.
We recommend that prior to testing your compliance against the rigorous requirements of the Standard you invite us in to Review your documentation. Our assessment will not only benchmark your documentation and records against the requirements of the Standard but in addition Review whether your safety management system complies with both the OH & S Law in NSW and the requirements of Workcover NSW.
The Review will include recommendations with regard to any necessary improvements.
Pre- commencement of our Review we will provide you with a written Proposal in which we will establish a Project fee ( a reduced Fee in comparison with our normal fee structure ) and a Timeline for the work and the provision of a Review Report.
With this Review you will know what work needs to be done in order to raise your compliance level up to the Standards requirements.
NOTE: The Standard should be employed by any Organisation that wishes to-
(a) implement, maintain and improve its OHS
Safety Management System;
(b) assure itself of its conformance with its stated
OHS Policy;
(c) demonstrate such conformance to a Third Party;
(d) seek certification/ registration of its OHS Safety
Management System by an external Auditor; or
(e) make a self –determination and declaration of
conformance with the Standard.
